Officers Present:
President Noah Butler, Vice President Mia Jones, Secretary/Treasurer Whitney McBride, Reporter Jessica Soto, Parliamentarian Brianne Borders

Representatives Present:
CSO/Food Relations – Crystal Adams, Swing Dance – Shawn Simonson, Phi Theta Kappa – Jennifer Langford

President Noah Butler called the meeting to order.

All rose for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Secretary Whitney McBride read the previous meeting minutes. Mr. Naples made a motion to accept the reading of the minutes. Noah Butler seconded and all were in favor.

Reporter Jessica Soto read the calendar of events for the upcoming week.

Old Business:

The Chair brought to attention the Chili Cook-Off.
After a brief reminder of last week’s decision on which students will act as judges, Mr. Naples suggested that all active SGA members should judge.
The Chair called for a debate on the subject.
Shawn Simonson brought up a good point by asking who would be eligible to judge.
A few others expressed their views and concerns on the subject by suggesting that anyone be allowed to judge.
The Chair suggested that all Officers and Representatives should act as judges.
The Chair closed the debate.
The Chair made a motion that everyone should judge and called for a vote.
All were opposed.

The Chair recognized Shawn Simonson who made a motion to pick new judges.
Vice President Mia Jones seconded.
The Chair called for a debate on Simonson’s motion.
A few questions were asked and points were brought up concerning how many judges should be selected.
Mr.Naples went over the details of the Chili Cook-Off, reminding everyone of the 1-10 judging scale and suggested that judges should be selected by what best fits the rules and regulations.
The Chair closed the debate.
The Chair makes a motion to select three judges and called a vote.
One opposed.

Mr. Naples made a Point of Information by restating the details of the Chili Cook-Off. According to the rules and regulations, three judges would not accommodate the  previously stated 1-10 judging scale.

The Chair motioned to overturn the previous motion concerning three judges.
Vice President Mia Jones seconded.
All were in favor.

The Chair made a new motion to select five judges which would judge all categories collectively.
The Chair called for a debate and, after no debate was necessary, closed the debate.
The Chair called for a vote on the new motion.
All were in favor.
Five judges were selected. Noah Butler, Mia Jones, Crystal Adams, Whitney McBride, and Canedrian Howard will judge during the Chili Cook-Off.

The Chair recognized Mr. Naples, who recruited a Committee for the 5k Run.

The Chair brought to attention the Community College Day Trip to Austin.
Mr. Naples made a Point of Information by stating that an eight passenger van has been provided for transportation.
The Chair made a point to state that all officers and two representatives will be allowed to attend.
The Community College Trip will be attended by all of the Officers, Canedrian Howard, and Jennifer Langford.

The Chair called for any new business.
A question was asked about the Dodge-Ball Tournament on February 11th.
More details concerning the event coming soon.

President Noah Butler reminded everyone of the Amendment Committee’s meetings on Thursdays @ 4:30 upstairs in the library.
